Summary -- the Zeiss 100 is the best short tele I have ever used in 35 years. Better than my Leica R and M 90's.

Sounds so sweet that it is hard to believe actually:-)

I wouldn't sell mine the 85 is extremely sharp wide open in the center, but it's a heavy bugger

Sold mine and bought Sigma 85mm F1.4
Sigma is not as sharp as Canon but it focuses twice as fast and that is what I need. My 85mm F1.2 was the sharpest lens I have seen even at F1.2 it was sharper than 70-200mm F2.8 L IS at F2.8, much sharper. But if it had the same focusing speed as Sigma 85mm F1.4 I would have kept it.

:rolleyes: .. faster to shoot what ?
I just learned how to focus with an ultra thin dof and track ultra fast subjects and I can use 85L mostly for sport.

Have a look there => https://photography-on-the.net …hp?p=13163469&postcount=4

.. I would surely buy again and again a 85L with probably the most accurate AF on the market, totally compatible with any sport, than a useless supposed faster AF from MFD to infinity but mostly erratic and inconsistent (as we can read so often on the web ) ...

You are right...time to kill this thread....we know that too many people sell their 85L after reading it.

Ok, I will start a new one - "85L - why did you buy yours?"

If i will buy 85L i will never sell it, because i wasted money on it and it will be a big lose if i sell it for about half the price or less, so either i buy it and never sell it or never buy it, you people are really so rich to buy many lenses and sell many, in my country if i buy one lens then it goes down to half price in first week or first month of use if i decide to sell, lucky you to have good deals on selling your gear :-(

Why i will buy this lens? because many here love it and i don't look at whose don't like it.

Then why don't you buy a used one at 1/2 price ?

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

The only place i can find it used is online, and this is a lot of risks if that used is not under the condition it should be, it may be good/excellent condition or it may not, then i can't go and return it and claim to get money back, i will accept new one with issues than a used with issues.

Yup. The B&S forums are absolutely jammed with used 85Ls. People hate them. It's a crap lens. I know I hate mine.

:rolleyes:
