That and the M9 low ISO shadow noise sucks aside from the ludicrous price of one, plus I hope you have a spare in case it breaks(especially the sensor). I agree, but that market is still incredibly small, relative to the DSLR market. There's a reason Leica charges what they do, and it's not all down to the name and the supposedly top-notch build quality. Street and editorial photography in Toronto, Canada

Hell, I'd buy one up to $2500 but that would be pushing my limit of longing for one. Who knows, maybe I'll just be done with it and get an R-d1s, I'd rather the x(newer tech + warranty and service life) but I'd like to be able to flip the screen as on the 1 and s.

The market for true rangefinders is pretty small compared to the whole photography market, but I'm with you in that I wish somebody besides Leica would jump in. A Fuji + Cosina/Voigtlander collaboration would be fantastic. I just don't see it happening.

This new Fuji if executed properly could be a very nice substitute albeit without true rangefinder capabilities (guessing here). It would offer a large percentage of the appeal of Leica rangefinders--build quality, manual controls, simplicity--with the benefits (and drawbacks) of TTL focusing via EVF. Definitely one to keep an eye on. I completely agree. Street and editorial photography in Toronto, Canada

Edit: The Epson.jp site has the x listed at 3,892.49 USD. ![]() That bothers me to no end. I'd kill for an R-D1 (gotta love manually cocking the shutter), but it has absolutely no business being so damned expensive! At $2500+, you'd be much better off just getting an M8. Those very occasionally go for less than $2k now! Fuji X100 / Sony NEX-7 / Contax G 45mm f/2 / The ghosts of 3 Canon bodies past / A meagre amount of talent

I'll say this now, if this "LX" has either an APS-H sensor or an APS-C sensor with Foveon-style tech (i.e. this "organic sensor" Fuji is developing) and no AA filter, my SLR gear will be in the sell forum right quick. That may be true, but I'd rather deal Epson Japan(through Dirk at Japan Exposures) for service issues than waiting who knows how long for something to come back from Solms. I've can't understand for the life of me why Leica shooters tolerate such lengthy body repairs other than being fanboys.
