Under $200 P&S for my sister

Is there a decent P&S (Canon or otherwise) out there for around $200? I can't convince my sister to buy a DSLR because she thinks they are too expensive and too much of a learning curve. She has two boys that are 3 and 7 that she is trying to get decent photos of doing the things kids do. She is looking at the Fuji S3280 that Wal Mart will have for $160 on Black Friday. I told her to stick with Canon and she'll be fine. When I look at P&S I go for the smallest one out there because if I'm not taking my DSLR I want something I can keep in my pocket. She's not really concerned with size.

Any advice, Canon or others? New cameras only, please. I'll never get her to look at a used one.

Thanks!

all the small sub $200 compacts in the canon elph line use the same 12mp cmos sensor with the HS system. Its a great system for low light. but its also a power hog. other than that, the only difference between the cameras are the features. Im using the Amazon.com prices as of today. 100HS ($137), 300hs ($177), 500hs ($199). Like I said, all the same sensors but with slightly different features. 100hs is the basic one, 300hs is the slim stylish one, 500hs is the touch screen one. so its really up to you on the features you want. the zoom ranges are pretty close. they even have the same auto scene modes. i would go for the 100hs or 300hs. the 500hs is more clumsy with the touch screen if youre trying to quickly change settings with kids running around.

check the grid for comparison.

If she isn't concerned with size, the SX150 is pretty cool. Nice huge zoom and easy to use. It's a little chunky, though.

If size is important, I'd get a Elph 100 HS. Those are only $129 at most places on the Black Fri ads I have seen.

If you stretch your budget to $239, I wholeheartedly recommend the Sony WX10 as a capable, small P&S,
suited for casual indoor and family usage. It focuses quickly and provides good image quality.
If not that, the ELPH 100/300 are excellent, tiny and significantly less expensive.

HP hasn't made cameras in about 4-5 years, so probably about time.

Some might dispute that HP ever really did make cameras :{)#

Jon, from my experience with s9100s, I would say the same about nikon. 2 samples...no more!
Wonder how the camera did so well in the dpreview test.
