Disclaimer: This is my first time ever taking pictures of someone else (and their pet).
It was a sort of spontaneous sort of thing where the sun was already down (just missed it) and we rushed to a nearby more photogenic area out of literally nowhere.

This was more of a trail and error sort of shoot (if that exists). I plan on doing more in the future with this person. Here are the top 5 shots I'm at least somewhat proud of. :o

Now, all of these are B/W and sepia for a reason. Going into this, I knew the lighting wouldn't be the best, forcing me to bump up the ISO. I was shooting mostly wide open (with a 50mm 1.8 MKI) with a pretty safe shutter speed; all in RAW.

Anyways, I figured I could convert to a more monotone sort of scheme to remove the discolored noise that would remain else wise. I wanted a warmer color with the shots, hence the slight brown tone. I know they're under-exposed a considerable amount but I was kind of looking for that added sort of contrast later in my PP.

I'd greatly appreciate some words/critique. :)

I'll go. The first 2 look a little soft, maybe from some noise reduction? It could be that you didn't have enough dof for these articular shots though. That being said, I do like the concept of #1 and #2 would be really good with some fill on the girls face.
#3 I like. I don't think I'd change a thing. #4 again, could benefit from some fill light but is still really nice. The last one looks like she's being up-lit. You never want that on someone's face unless you want them to look kinda scary. You're also shooting up her nose which usually doesn't work too well.
To sum it up, awesome first try. Keep shooting, because these are actually pretty nice little moments.

That's probably right. I was standing pretty close and mostly at 1.8.
I agree about the fill light as well but I'm sure next time I'll be able to change that before PP with better light. Also, yes, the last one is a bit awkward. My light source was her car headlight being reflected off of a piece of crumpled white paper we found in her car (very very quick spur-of-the moment experiment).

Thank you though. I greatly appreciate the critique and comments.

Loved 1, 2 and 3, they really tell a story. The colours were done well. Fantastic expression on number 2.

Ok and now just to be picky, well since we all want to improve, but I still liked them :)
- 4 kinda looked like she was waving goodbye but I think she's trying to catch something out of the air? I think the full open palm is a little bit distracting to me. Her expression was great though.
- 5, not enough to tell the story, if there was a candle there or something to explain the source of light or why she was so interested in looking that way.

Just my 2c.

Being a BC fan, like 2 & 3 with your model. Can you provide exif data. Would like to explore more about your images. DN

First off. Thank you. Any comments are definitely welcome.

4 was a bit of a goofy shot. Heh. She picked some berries (or un-blossomed flower buds?) and I had her throw them up in the air. I missed them by just a frame (planning to catch them in a mid-air sort of bokeh "hail" or something).

5, I understand. Yes, the shot in itself is a bit ill-conceived. But, as I posted above in my previous reply, it was purely an experimental shot. I just personally really liked the harsh lighting (a car headlight, go figure) and what it did to the picture; though yes, not the best shot ever.

Thanks again for the comments and pointers! :D

I like them for the most part. The last one with the spook lighting doesn't work for me. I'd like to see a close up of just the girl where she is looing at the camera.
