Hi, i'm looking for people who are using a 600d after using a fixed LCD model Canon.

I've just sold my Panasonic camcorder and 20d, and with the monies I have enough funds for a 550d to treat myself (that was the plan). However, I then got thinking about the 600d. I have researched the differences well, and even used both in the camera shop a few times.

I just can't decide how useful that swivel LCD will be.

Can anyone help me decide whether to save £100+ and go for the 550d, or spend £100+ and go for the 600d? How much have you used your swivel screen? Yep, I did fine without it with my 20d, but you often don't know what you're missing.

It's Christmas, I work in retail, money is tight. :( £100 would go a long way.

I have a panasonic GH-2, which has the swivel lcd, I think I've use it once for a low angle shot in still photography, the normally located lcd is quite visible except for the extreme angles, so it's always in that position.

I think what more important is the size of the lcd and the number of pixels it displays, this will help with the photo previews etc. I find it difficult to gauge the quality of an image on the smaller 460k lcd's like the GH-2 screen

They are pretty much the same, so in a way you would be saving a lot with the 550D.

I'm Using the SX30 IS it has the swivel LCD , but i'm gonna say that sometimes it's useful sometimes not , but when i got the EOS 1000d , i can say that the only benefit of that screen is when using a tripod.

When I first bought my camera 4 and a bit months ago the difference between the 2 was indeed about £100, and as far as I could tell the only difference was the swivel screen, so I bought the 550D.
Now however, on Amazon the price difference is about £20 so I would definitely have gone for the 600D now as for £20 that swivel screen would be handy for that 1 in 740 shots where I want to get a shot from the ground or above peoples heads.
So, in your shoes, I would get the 600D, the differences may not be worth £100, but they are definitely worth £20.
