Well, following my luck on the saturday with my other terns, we found some more on the other side of the island on the sunday. Wish i wasn't with a whole heap of togs, some of them non birders, cause I could have stayed for hours! plus, would have been able to sneak up a bit better without disturbing them. Bit hard when you have about 12 people trying to sneak up! Middle one is a big crop again.

These are simply great, Tina. See, these have what I call the 1D look, just like your first tern shots. Stunning IQ.

I just love those guys...and they all look as if they've been to the same hair-dresser!

What breed of tern are they Tina? We have nothing like them here.

Number one looks like it's conducting an orchestra.

Great shots again Tina, your Terns love you! The first one reminds me of one airliner revving up for takeoff while the rest are waiting in line.......I see airplanes in birds a lot these days ;)

Thanks very much Levina. Don't forget though, I do process,so they have had a touch of sharpening, and noise removal done, but the mk4 is a magic camera. I only got it a month ago, and am loving it a lot!

Lol, they are crested terns, and it is funny when their crest stands up in the wind. Thankyou Ricardo.

lol, something in your drink maybe Ian? however, now that you mention it, it does look like that too! I was very lucky that w/e, would so have loved to have spent hours with them! These two groups were actually fairly tame, not always that easy to get close to them.

You did an excellent job on these Tina, the color, clarity and exposure is outstanding. You're really making that MK IV sing.

I couldn't imagine trying to get shots like these while with other people. I shoot alone about 90 percent of the time and always when shooting the shoreline and sand flats. Not many of the shooters I know enjoy a good crawl. When I startle the birds I kick myself but when others do I get a bit grumpy, especially after a very loooooong hike and crawl that started well before sunrise.

Thankyou very much Steve. I went on a w/e trip with a photography club to moreton island, off brisbane, which is all sand, so to get around you have to have a 4wd (which I don't have), so the opportunity to see the island with the group was too tempting to miss. I certainly didn't expect to find the terns, so they were the icing on the cake for me. When I go back,I also have to try and master shooting little honeyeaters dipping in the lake for a bath. and yes, I am loving the mk4. All I need now is a longer lens, hope one comes on ebay! Lol, and yes, I get grumpy when other people disturb my birds! Mind you, I havn't quite gone out and done what you do, lie and crawl for hours on end, but I want to! (except for broome, and then only the one morning, and it so peaceful to be there on my own). However, as a female, I have to be a bit more circumspect about where I hang out too.
