I myself prefer more shallow DoF but for a flexible range the 24-105 is hard to beat. I wanted to rent the 24-70 for this show, but I didnt have enough funds to do so. I took a look at the stats from all the shots I took at the show (700+) and the range most used was 24mm and 105mm. I also used the 135L for close up detail shots, and that lens accounted for quite big chunk of photos as well. The 24-105 was actually the very first L lens I've rented when I had my t2i. I was in awe how much better it was compared to the kit lens (duh LOL). Of course I didn't really get to use it that much especially in situations where I needed a bigger aperture so I can't really judge nor decide if I should get it or not.
