I happened upon a photo of this place, then searched for its location. It is close to the highly popular Blackwater Falls State Park in WV, but is not well known or publicized. Since I was expecting a single waterfall, I was amazed to find a series of beautiful waterfalls and cascades as far as I could follow the stream.

Holy cow, Stan! The colors there are amazing; especially in the first two shots. What a great location to have near by and nice shooting. :)

Nice series, great use of the small foreground cascade in the first image.

I really like the first one. I don't think the others are as good composition wise. I do tend to like the down low shots though too. Nice job though.

The water does not look clear. I looked it up and apparently there is mine runoff with tons of limestone dumped there to buffer acid mine runoff. Do you know anything about this?

Really like the first two Stan! Looks like you got wet. Before you print #1, you might want to clone out the upper far corners---like like you caught part of your lens hood?

I thought the water looked clear in real life, that the long exposure caused it to look "murky" in the photos. It was definitely not like the Blackwater River, which was dark with tannin. I did hear something about mining chemicals causing the rocks to be reddish. Bottom line, I don't know for certain what has gone into this stream.

Thanks for that. I can't remember being more excited than when I got to this place.

Thanks, Bruce. My CPL vignettes when I go full wide on the 10-22, and I failed to correct it in PP. I almost got wet when I stepped on rocks with a particular algae growing there. I later learned it sticks to your soles and makes them extremely slippery. I even met a woman there who slipped and went into the stream last year. Not a pleasant thought.

Nice series! I most prefer the second one. The balance between falls ans surroundings feels the most natural/correct there.

Cheers, Helen
