I currently have an 450D which I purchased used back in May. Was wondering would their be any advantage to selling the 450D body and getting a 40D? As this point this would be in my budget. Was looking at the sticky "comparing camera to camera" and where as the 40D has lower pixels (12 vs 10 meg), the 40D does go to 3200 ISO and has a fast continuous shooting. It also is better build and bigger for my big hands. At this point I am not sure if I should do this and wanted to get feedback from this great forum!

You pretty much hit on the advantages - just add that the control interface on an xxD body is much easier to use (quick control dial and multi-controller joystick on back of camera body, top LCD display). It sounds like you're wanting to upgrade for the right reasons rather than just expecting that "bigger camera = better images". It would be worth it to me for the reasons you mentioned and the one I added (especially the one I added).

.... and it has a top viewing panel, as well as many other advantages. The 450 is a consumer level camera, the 4o is a prosumer level.
I find the 550, which is roughly, if not exactly, the same size as the 450 a great little camera that I can slip in my pocket when I need to. It is less ostentatious than the 40, but if I went to a wedding, or indeed a model shoot, many people would wonder if I could take proper pictures with such a small camera. Mind you I used to get the same reaction from people back in the 1980's if I was out with my Leica M3, a rangefinder camera!

If you like the larger size, the controls will make you like it even better. The difference in megapixels is negligible. The 40D is a very competent camera.
