An old photo, but I've been wondering about the merits of the cropping.

Which crop do you prefer - the wide expanse of the full version, or the closer intimacy of the slight crop?

To be fair, you only really cropped just a tiny bit on the right, yes? and maybe a slight bit on the bottom. I would prefer you cropped from the right but did not crop the bottom. I like the reflection to have a bit more space.

I cropped a little from the top as well - trying to keep the aspect ratio the same.

The main reason I'm asking is that someone suggested it to me - everyone sees things differently, though. Sometimes I wonder if I should replace one eye with a 16-35mm zoom, the other with a TS-E 17, and the visual cortex of my brain with a Linhof 617 panoramic camera...

Quickly,

I like the wider vista. I would like to see some detail brought out of the shadows. Finally, it looks a little oversharpened to me.

Yeah, I must have accidentally applied a print sharpening to the web version...

Full version for me.

Why did you think the crop was needed?

I didn't. But it was suggested to me, and a second/third/fourth pair of eyes to consider it is always useful!

It's too little of a crop to make a difference to me.
