Screw a grey card, get a Color Checker!
I've always loved my color checker... but I love it even more after doing all of those headshots for work... The one I bought for work saved me so much time.
expensive! how do they work? never looked into them

The website explains it better than I do. http://xritephoto.com …uct_overview.aspx?ID=1257 Basically you have 3 "pages" in the passport, a grey card for white balance, a color checker and then an "enhancement" target. Generally I just use the Color checker and grey card, I'm not entirely sure what the enhancement target is all for. But grey card is really for in camera white balance, the color check you take a picture of, and then upload a DNG version of that picture into either it's plug in or stand alone software and it analyzes the photo and creates a custom camera profile for that series of shots. You can see that some clouds rolled in and gave me that magic light. I'm just messing around with layers, masking, and luminosity stuff.
