When i become an old man and life slows down ill be birding. It can be relaxing. I just dont have the time for it now.

I feel what you mean. Right now even if I had the lenns I probably wouldn't have the patience for it. I mean I can barelty wait 2 days for a lens to come

Well almost time for my holiday lens rental. Mostly used for indoors so it might be the 24L II again this year or maybe a TS :)

Wide Angle Lens Lotto!

I might but i fear it to be a bit too long on crop for indoor use (NYC apartments can be very tight). I already run into a few problems with 50 so that is why i don't go for the 85. When i go FF it will be a lens to buy for sure! :D But! In the warmer temps and 85 is magic outside for me :)

That is exactly why I'm going to try to switch over to FF and with the holidays coming up I might have enough money!

The 35L I bought refurbed through Canon just came in, and boy is it nice. This thing had to be brand new/overstock. UZ06 date, not a mark on the mount contacts. Sharp as a tack and accurate to boot! And it was only $1030 :D

Admit it, you tried pulling the old "indiana jones idol swap", but the difference in weight set off the alarms :D

4 day rental of the

24 II for 23 dollars
24 TSE 45 dollars
85 II 37 dollars (just to show what it goes for)
Zeiss 28 2.0 35 dollars

So might go with one of those up there.

Great deal! I don't think I could even pass it up! If I saw that I would have snatched that lens :), but I am hoping this 85L will suffice.

If someplace local offered those rates, I'd be renting all the time too. Hell, I'd try out most everything in Canon's lineup at those rates.

 Now you see why i dont mind it. Obviously within reason as i rent at most twice a year for personal use. The rest is built into the paid shots :)

It was during their 15% refurb sale the other day. All of the good stuff was OOS when the sale started--the 35L was the best deal they had going. They had lots available. And 29 5D2 bodies for $1700

Yeah, I can understand that. Seriously though, I'd rent the 500L, 600L, or 800L and take it out birding for weekends :D
