All of the good stuff was OOS when the sale started--the 35L was the best deal they had going. wait... 15% refurb on the already discounted prices?! I would have picked up an 85L then cause it would have been even significantly cheaper! Too late though...

Seriously though, I'd rent the 500L, 600L, or 800L and take it out birding for weekends ![]() I just responded to this as the issue -Omar- Flickr

The "most expensive" lenses available were the 100-400L, 24-105L, and 35L. Even the 24-70mm (which no one currently cares about) was OOS. The 100L was gone too. Always a popular seller at the discounted rate of > $800.

Well that makes me sad. Still, the 300 2.8 with 2x TC might be fun just to try out for that price. Beats paying $4000 for it, right?

I would have been able to get some sweet lighting set-up but it's over and done with, I can only look to this 85L

For anything remotely macro, it's my go-to lens. Nothin beats it, handheld. It's WAY more useful than you might think. it also doubles as an excellent portrait lens on FF. Some might argue that it's among the most versatile lens for the price.

They off the TC's for rent as well. You could also take the bodies out for a spin. All of the canon lineup is available. A bit more expensive obviously than a lens rental but you have the option of: -Omar- Flickr

That's really bad--for that price you may as well buy a used one, and sell it when you're done.Exactly. But a LOT of people i see walk out with the 5dmkii rented also pick up a ton of video rails as well (you can rent that also). So i see that more so because of business that the 5dmkii stays up there. -Omar- Flickr

Doesn't it have the incredible IS? I know for a fact that the 135 is one of the best portrait lens - if not the best portrait lens because it makes the subject look beautiful and I think has something to do with distortion? But that lens would be great on FF. Maybe one day when I want a macro I'll own one of those!

Although very good for portrait use as well but i think of the 85 for that when you start looking at perspective distortions. -Omar- Flickr
