Check borrow lenses page 4 up to 800 mm

http://www.borrowlenses.com …n/151?sortBy=productOrder (external link)

$300 for 3 days... or $1200 for 4 weeks... plus $100+ shipping... That might make sense if you'd planned a trip to the lock&key dam, or something along those lines... where $400 is only a small part of the trip cost.

Exactly. But a LOT of people i see walk out with the 5dmkii rented also pick up a ton of video rails as well (you can rent that also). So i see that more so because of business that the 5dmkii stays up there.

Hope they only do that as a precursor to buying. All of that gear would be expensive to rent for every job.

Unless they are very high paying jobs in which 125 is a fraction of the cost (you would assume they would own it if that was the case but i see it so often it makes me wonder). During the summer time when i go street shooting you see a bunch of people using 5d's and filming something. The price of it should be much lower considering that you can get the 85L for half the price. Ive wonder about asking them to keep all the extras and just give me the body without all that other stuff. See if they price adjust but i doubt it would make much of a difference.

Doesn't it have the incredible IS? I know for a fact that the 135 is one of the best portrait lens - if not the best portrait lens because it makes the subject look beautiful and I think has something to do with distortion? But that lens would be great on FF. Maybe one day when I want a macro I'll own one of those!

vipergts831 wrote in post #13550674 (external link)
I consider the 135 the best street lens out there. Its so damn good. Although very good for portrait use as well but i think of the 85 for that when you start looking at perspective distortions.

135 is one of the sharpest lenses you could ever own. Color and contrast are off the charts. I miss it, but it is long.

If you wanted a macro, you wouldn't own the 135. The 135 and 100L are two very different lenses.

"other stuff"? What other stuff do they throw in with he $85 rental?

It would seem logical that the higher paying gigs would start with interviews where they'd at least ask what equipment you actually own... or bring the stuff in person to show. You can't show up with just a flipbook to convince them to hire you, right? :D

Yup not even in the same conversation.

If you owned only the 135 you could add some kenko tubes for some fun. I have used it on the 50 with success :)

Yeah that I did know. I know the 135 and 100 are two completely seperate lenses. But this 85 right now is like a 135 for me because of the 7D.

You basically get everything that comes in the box of these cameras. Down to the instruction book and video cables. You get an extra battery, Card Reader, and 8GB Compact flash card.

The kits are built as if you didnt own a DSLR. Like you mentioned great for try outs.

You know who else i believe is renting those kits: Film Students. NYC is filled with these schools so i can see them going this route as well.

I used to swear by tubes, but let me just say that losing infinity focus is a PITA. And I hate having to swap out tubes/lenses. The more swapping I do, the more I have to clean my sensors...

The FL may be similar, but certainly not the DoF!!!

I dont swear by them but as an alternative to a dedicated macro lens it is a good option if you dont shoot too much in that genre. Nothing can beat a dedicated macro like the 100 or 100L. I hear the sigma 150 is very very good.

Patience my friend

I didn't think I was getting the lens today so I didn't bring my camera to school and I'm stuck at my moms work so I have to wait until I get home
