Hahaha Yup sucks waiting!

My card should come on Monday, so I'll be ready to record video as soon as the camera gets here!

I don't know what I'll record though...

I'm really, really not having much luck with sellers these days. I had an issue with the 1ds2 the other day--shutter was sticking during some bird shooting. Restarting the unit resolved the issue for the time being, but I started to wonder if the shutter was due to fail. The seller advertised 15,500 actuations reported, and 1dcount and camerashuttercount came up reporting 148,000 shots.

I even did the math behind it to show the seller he was wrong:
http://imageshack.us/f/220/16788312.jpg/ (external link)

He apparently used CS5 to get the shutter count, and the reading for CS5 rolls over after every 66536 shots: http://dpanswers.com/roztr/content_show.php?id=292 (external link)

It's just not my lucky month, is it guys? :D I initiated a dispute after the seller basically called me incompetent, and refused a return or a partial refund based on any estimate I get from canon repairs. We'll see how this goes.

The issue here is when the shutter fails. It may be tomorow, or it may be months from now. I only have a short period to file disputes.

Send it into Canon for a check on the shutter and shutter count. That way you have evidence to back you up.

no kidding--and shutter replacement is in the range of $300-$450... and that's with 20%-30% CPS discounts. Once the shutter count goes beyond 200,000, I hear that Canon FORCES you to replace the mirror box too--and that's about $700 total.

It would back me up, but that information is no more valuable than the math I already provided. High actuations doesn't prove imminent failure. Only failure is failure :D When it comes down to it, the fact that the shutter sticks should be all I really need for a return.

Between $1500-$1750 with an assumed working shutter. I should have paid at least $200 less if a shutter replacement was necessary. I honestly would never have purchased it if the seller hadn't flat out said it had 15,500 shots on it total.

If he lied to you about shutter count, then the case is closed!
