Getting my hip replaced tuesday, a year late. I'm looking to load up my Nook. I just finishd O'Brian's Master & Commander series. I like historical fiction, any era. What are we reading out there?
And this is photo related because....ummm....ok, toss in a good photo learning book who's title does not end in 'for dummies' to keep this on the up & up.

Thanks!

I would suggest Clive Cussler if you enjoy sea and underwater stories. There is also W.E.B. Griffin for military fiction. He has written several "series" of books such as The Corps series and others as well. Wilber Smith wrote a series of fabulous books on ancient Egyptian culture and such starting I think with a book called River God and followed by the Warlock. Great reading. He also wrote a pretty extensive series about 17th century pirates called the Courtney series I believe but I might be off on that. Very good series.

Recovery reading for dummies!!

But seriously i dont have any books to suggest, happy recovery. Wifey had surgery and will be home next two months. She has her kindle, macbook, and i am contemplating getting the nook or kindle fire for her, she loves reading so much.

I know how you must feel and i wish you well with your recovery.

Take a look at David Weber's Safehold series - SFish but in a world going through the transition from galleys to square riggers. If you like his writing there, he's got bunches of "Hornblower in Space" in his Honor Harrington series. Or look at Eric Flint's Grantville series, about a WV town transported to the 30 Years War.

Did you read "Dune" by Frank Herbert. It has stood the test of time well. Tom Clancy is good escapist stuff as well.....then there's always "War and Peace"! :D

His British Army Sharpe series is his best! Sharpe goes from Sergeant to Colonel in a dozen or so superbly written books set in the Napoleonic Wars.
