First Solar pic taken today with my new Orion Solar Filter. A little out of focus but very happy how it turned out ... and that it didn't fry my camera, hahaha. The filter is amazng!

Image below, slight sharpening and blacks boosted:

Lovely. Would love to get one of these myself.

Thanks troypiggo, I'm happy to share the sun, no need to get your own, hahaha. The filter its crazy cool, although there was one thing I didn't factor in with solar observing after all my research into it ... It gets damn hot sitting out under the sun with no shade! Been wanting to tinker with solar pics for a while, and to be ready for Venus next year.

Well done. It's got a fair bit of solar acne too.
Don't forget that you guys will get a good partial eclipse this time next year (unless you're going up to Cairns).

I agree Lego. I'm used to freezing...not roasting. I'd suggest doing lots of observing through eyepieces too. I was amazed to see lots of satellites zipping by while i checked out the Sun. I tried, but never managed a good pic of one

Yeh, next year is going to be cool for the Sun ... well, boiling but worth it.

Thanks Steve! Although I see a lot of comments about people going to Cairns for Venus, but it'll be visible from Sydney too right? Just, better chance of clear skies in Cairns in June I believe?

Hey Toxic Coolaid, very keen to check out transits of satellites, how big do they show up? The sun spots will appear bigger though right?

The transit of Venus will be visible anywhere that you can see the Sun on that day. The attraction of Cairns/Port Douglas is for the Total Solar Eclipse in November. On that day, you'll see a partial eclipse in Sydney.
