Just barely holding his head up for these :) Would love any C&C but especially on how you think I could improve.

I know I cut off his hands, maybe a tighter crop would take some attention away from that?

Beautiful baby and wonderful light! Would love to see more. Yes you could try a different crop and see if you like that better.

Not much to say about your technique ... lighting is great, picture is sharp, you did a great job. I especially like how the B&W came out. Another thing you may try is to take the pic in landscape so that you have more room on the sides to get his hand in the frame. Congratulations, his a beautiful baby.

Babies at that age will almost always flail their arms out to the side like that. You have to bend the arms, stack the baby over top of his folded arms and hold the hands in place, pulling your hands out at the last minute. If it isn't possible to get that close and take the pic at the same time, have mom hold the hands gently (you don't want to leave marks) and pull them when you tell her to. Rinse and repeat because baby will WANT to pull his arms out, you have to catch that split second when he forgets they are folded in front of him. Regardless, very cute pic.

Yes, you are right, he did want his arms out to the side :)

I am Mom as well, so I am doing my best to get his attention, and the shot! :)
