Winter swim season is well underway in the US. I'd like to see your swimming shots along with any notes about the shots/meet etc.
C&C on shots is also welcome here.

I'll start with a few from a meet this past weekend. I was pleased with some of the results I got. For an indoor pool, there was pretty good available light near the ends, the middle was at least a stop and a half darker (so I was concentrating on shots near the ends). The pool also has a large bright scoreboard with red and green lights that does interesting things to the lighting and the reflections in the water. The session of the meet that I attended just had 9-12 year olds.

All shot with a 7D 70-200 at f/2.8 with ISO 3200 and 1/400 (no flash)

^^ Kevin,
Nice shots! How are you lighting these? The EXIF indicates that no flash is used.
Also, on my monitor, the subjects appear to be on the bright side, that despite picture perfect histograms.

Here in NJ, because there is a strobe attached to the starting horn and the timers are instructed to watch the strobe to start their watches (eye-hand reactions have been shown to be quicker than ear-hand) officials frown on flash photography -- it is prohibited at the start, but they really don't want to see flashes down on the pool deck at all. So I shoot at the lowest ISO that gets me 1/500 at f/2.8.

Indoor meets with dim fluorescent lighting are tricky. No way around that!

Thanks, Harry.

All were shot with two strobes, left and right and mounted up high. Here in Indiana, the only time you can't use strobes is at the start, diving and as I recently found out, the backstroke.

I think the brightness is a combination of a few things. It was mid winter here so nobody had any tan at all. Direct strobes on shiny skin does not help and if I remember correctly, they were a bit out out of the camera so dialing down the exposure fixed the histogram but still does not recover a blown highlight.

This pool is unique in this area in that the ceiling is not flat white tile but is dark with wood beams which eliminated the option to bounce the strobes which is the way I would prefer to shoot.

All the pics are great. My only suggestion is give the freestyle shots to the coaches so they can correct some things. Heads are way to far out of the water and turning way to much for breath. We love to look at how great our pictures are of our kids swimming but over time I have learned to also give them to the coach so he can correct their stroke.
