Can someone please tell me which model of Sto-Fen Omni Bounce will fit YN-560? Wasn't sure if I need the 580 EX I size or the 580 EX II size.

And because I know someone will likely hack on me for wanting a Sto-Fen in the first place and tell me to save my money and buy something else, I am working my way through a Strobist book and want to follow the exercises as given. Neener neener :p.

Thanks!

Michelle

Go for the 580EXII Sto-Fen, should fit. They are listed as the same on FleeBay :D also I have a 565EX and use a 580EXII Sto-Fen.

I have one and believe they have their place, also if they are part of a course/plan you are following then go for it, no one here can tell you otherwise. These items are personal choice, some use and love them when others hate them and see them as pointless.

Did yours not come with one? If you buy directly from Yongnuo's ebay store they ship one with the flash.

Thanks so much!! I am sure I will find uses for one beyond the book. I'm always trying to muck the light around to my liking, and it will be one more tool for the box. :)

Hmmm, I did not get one. My first one was purchased through Cheaplights via Amazon. I will check out ebay, tho. I want to buy a 2nd one of these, and it if comes with the diffuser, then it may save me a bit of money buying as a package. Thanks for the tip on that. :)

If you're asking me buddy, no mine never came with one although mine came from within the UK.

The better question is why would you want one? Do a stofen search here to see why. Edit: I just reread your post and seriously its not worth the effort.

Was originally asking OP sorry. I found that if you buy directly from Yongnuo the service is always great and that yeah the flashes usually include a free sto-fen.

I am going to go outside and use it at a 45 degree angle for a key light because it will bounce light onto my subject.

In the book, seems like Stofen is used mostly inside a larger modifier. Reading back in this forum and FM, that seems to be a reasonable use for one, anyway. I bought the cheap generic one if that makes it any better.

Cheers,
Michelle

What a total waste of flash power and batteries. Why would you want to "bounce" flash outside. I just do not get it???

I was kidding. That was why there were 3 laughing smiley faces after the comment.

Please tell me how it makes sense. I'm looking to understand your point. The problem with stofens is people think they do things that they don't. So tell me how using it inside another modifier helps.
