I seem to be having some kind of issue with my Rebel T2i - the frame rate is very slow. I've cleared all of the camera functions, I've cleared all of the Custom Functions, I've made sure that HTP, PLC, Noise Reduction, etc are turned off, and I've made sure that Add Image Verification Data is disabled.

Below is a short clip of it rattling off 4 frames, which took about 6 seconds (shutter button depressed the whole time). I have it in Manual mode, 1/640, manual focus, and I don't even have a card in it (though the frame rate doesn't change whether I have my card in it or not), full battery.

Anything I haven't thought to check? It's the same on any setting, even in the Basic mode. It's out of warranty so I'd rather not send it to Canon, but it's looking like I may have to.

Thanks!

It doesn't seem to make a difference, the cap can be on or off, I can have a lens on or off.

Take a photo of its lcd to show us the settings. Also what does the buffer counter in the eyepiece say when shooting.

Photo is below. FWIW, it really doesn't seem to matter what the settings are on - it will do this in M, AV, P, full auto, sports, etc.

The buffer number in the eyepiece says 6 when you take the first photo, but then it shuts off as you're shooting. Even if I press the shutter button to take the first photo, release it and immediately press it again to take another photo, there is still a significant delay before it will take the next photo.

I find if very interesting you can get it to take a photo at all with the lens cap on. I have a T2i here so I set your exact settings and it will not take a photo at all with the lens cap on.

To add to this, what kind of lens are you using, it could be a lens issue?

With the cap off i very quickly whiz through them though, and so should yours. I took the card out to be sure that it would take the photos with it removed, and I'm set to raw, with all the other settings on where i like them (low noise,

It should take a picture with the lens cap on if the lens is set to 'MF' which the OP has done.

If you have it set to manual focus, you should be able to take a photo with the lens cap on.

It's a 17-40L right now, but it does the same with any lens on it, or with no lens.

There are two noise reduction systems in the T2i. The one which normally causes the fps to drop off is the High ISO Noise Reduction (C.Fn-5).Have you disabled that?

Yeah. I disabled the Long exposure noise reduction, High ISO speed noise reduction, Highlight tone priority, and even the Peripheral illumination correction.

Might want to contact Canon. Everything seems normal with your settings.

Yeah, it does the same even if I switch it to small JPGs.

Looking like that's all that is left. I even tried updating the firmware, no dice. It's just strange to me, everything else seems to work fine! Damn thing.

Shouldn't affect the buffer memory.
