Hey guys!

So, I lost my job not too long ago and have had some free time to build a website for my galleries. I have only been shooting for a year, so there aren't very many shots yet. It would still be cool to get some feedback! :D

www.johaneickmeyer.com/ (external link)

Does it look like a professional website for landscape photos?

How easy is it to navigate to what you want to find?

Do you think the quality of the photos are worth purchasing?

Are there images on my flickr that should be on my website?

http://www.flickr.com/photos/yohan_photography/ (external link)

Please be brutally honest. I strive to be the best I can be, although smugmug is very limiting in how I can control my own layout and HTML. :(

Thanks!

BTW, for a limited time, I have the prices at-cost. Pretty much free right now. Prices will go up once I have the site more polished. That's my gift for giving feedback. :D

Yes.

Yes.

Yes.

Didn't spend the time to go to the Flickr site.

I think your sense of composition, use of lighting, and overall technique produces photos that would have a market. Even though advances in cameras, and processing software, has made life a lot easier for photographers,... there will always be those who can't (or wont) take pictures for themselves.

Excellent work! You've gotta share some of these locations with a fellow Seattle-ite.

Thank you for taking the time to visitand give feedback. I am going to work on my own website that is not hosted by smugmug. It is good to hear the the current one works for you!

I use a lot of photo stitching zoomed in to make my newer shots super high resolution. Even though I use a 60D, I can get 60-100MP shots. :)
I should make a point on my site, that these can be printed super huge.

The website is for people who want to see shots, not so much buy them. I predict most of my sales will come from getting huge prints into real art galleries. Working VERY hard on that part. I have a couple frame shops wanting to show my work already.

Having no job is great for my photography!

My apologies. I need to get some location info in there. People really dig that even if they are not photographers. I have to be careful though, as I think some spots are kept under secret by the locals in order to keep the crowds down.

Best places to shoot are Oregon Coast, Oregon Coast, and Oregon Coast.

Hope that helps!

Your work is very good. Your site is easy to navigate...but I think there are some link issues with the images on your home page. The Gallery page works very well.

***your work is easily good enough to price and sell. Do not sell yourself short here.
Your processing is your strength, keep it up.
Good luck I hope the new year brings you success in the photography so you do not have to look for work!!!

just a few of my thoughts...

I recognized much of the Oregon stuff. I just keep getting clouds every time I go down there! Looks worth the effort though...I'm not going to give up. Well done on all of them.

Thanks a lot for the encouragement guys!

Since I have no job, no kids, no house, no car payments... I am going to be destroying the shutter on my 60D this next year. I also know a lot more about how to get keepers.

Go for a week in early June/late may. Not too sunny, not too cloudy, and the wildflowers are exploding!

I like them. As stated above, I think you should either raise your prices on the site OR if thats unavailable, remove it and leave contact information. Your pictures are extremely under-priced and if someone is going to want to buy it they will pay a ton more than what you have it at right now. keep it up!
