More sound-activated paint shots...

Gloomy weather, cold weather, or just simple boredom, means either more smoke, more water drops, or more paint shots. Here's some more recent sound-activated paint shots. This time I thought about changing the plastic on the speaker, and opted for a white trash bag...

Canon did it with high-speed stuff...Paint with Sound

Checked out the canon site, wow images and wow technology and creativity to get them. I salute your efforts!

You're welcome of course. I'm not a "go screw yourself, it's my secret" type of photographer; if I know something I'm more than eager to share, nobody is taking money out of my pocket by my revealing any "secrets". I've come across quite a few photographers, and have heard stories about photographers, who don't tell you diddly, they just leave you hang, which I think is kinda ignorant.

And if you take a look at the Canon/Dentsu stuff you'll see, apart from the high-speed stuff, that they're using a relatively small speaker and a macro lens. I sold off my 100mm IS L macro so today I tried the 70-200mm and Kenko tubes. I was using my Sig 18-200mm OS but it seems that macro-type gear works well to make the paint look its best. Plus you can shoot wider apertures to get a better effect by introducing a stronger DOF into the shots.

It will also allow you to keep the mess to a minimum. So far I've been doing pretty good at keeping the area clean around the speaker, a few drops fly off into the wild blue yonder, a few manage to hit the carpet, but it's very few and far between. With a macro lens you can use a smaller drop of paint, thereby keeping the splatter to a minimum. And of course there's always stuff like corn starch, pancake batter, thicker paint, etc., to give different effects. With the Canon/Dentsu stuff I think they were using a ticker paint than what I normally use, however the most recent shots I've been using different paint, Crayola Washable Finger Paint, which is really thick. Even watered-down it's thick, but it does give a different effect than the watered-down paints I've been using.

Hmm, I'll have to look into that. I like the Crayola water color paints idea. I'll have to buy a drop cloth too. I have my old Subwoofer speaker system I used to use on this computer but it is pretty big. I switched to something smaller that has the same output. I just need to find power for it. I guess I'm going to Radio Shack & Home Depot tomorrow!
