Just one of the new features of the 1Dx that I haven't seen mentioned before

When micro adjusting a zoom lens with the 1Dx you'll be able to set adjustment points for the wide end and tele end of the lens.

check out this vid of the 1Dx

Very cool from a tech standpoint--but it should not be needed if Canon had a functional quality control directive

Here another vid of a new feature of the 1Dx

The Canon EOS-1D X DSLR features an all-new AE system to deliver accurate exposures in every frame the camera shoots. The third of a series of six films about the capabilities of the 18.1 Megapixel EOS-1D X examines the camera’s AE system and explains how it operates.

The Canon EOS-1D X DSLR features a completely new 61-point autofocus system to provide consistent focusing performance, no matter what the subject is or how bad the lighting conditions may be. The first of a series of six films about the capabilities of the EOS-1D X takes a closer look at the camera’s AF system – the most advanced autofocus system ever seen in an EOS DSLR.

I've learned that if I want a happy life at home, my wife is indeed "perfect", and she has to be aware I know it. :p

On a serious note, I am glad Canon finally listened to the masses, we put that idea out years ago, I can dig up the threads.

Until component manufactures can creat 0% tolerance components, it will be impossible to build an auto focus camera/lens that will function perfectly with all cameras with all lenses at all setting.

Thankfully Canon is offering a very good work-around for this issue.

Oh and for what it is worth .... it is nearly impossible to manufacture components with 0% tolerance. Even if you built it with 1% tolerance components, the cumulative effect of a chain of components all out by 1% would create a larger out of tolerance fault.

The last time a lens was made that would work well with all camera bodies at all settings was back prior to 1988.

Maybe this feature will catch on and reduce some of the 24-70L threads.

How did Canon calibrate all those bodies and lenses back in the day--perhaps they just threw away the bad ones?

I must just be lucky--all those old dirty lenses in my signature work well with the big pile of obsolete bodies I own--all made well before MA was possible.

If I had lens focus problems with a 1Dx, I'd be sending the lens/body to Canon for a more thorough calibration. For a $7K body, it's the least they can do if I have a problem.

Sure you can do that, or you can spend about 5 minutes and fix up a lens to the body very quickly. Remember it may be the lens, body, or both lens and body that have a bit of error between them to create this situation.
