I am looking for a general lens for HDSLR video that has some form of image stabilization that will help me when using the camera handheld of flying on a Glidecam. The lens most also be able to take excellent photos. After doing some research, I have narrowed the selection down to these two lens.
Has anyone had any experience with both? what were your thoughts?
Is the OS on the sigma effective for video? I have heard it only turns on when the shutter is depressed.

I run the Sigma 17-50 without stabilization just fine on an old Steadicam JR. I haven't tried a Sigma stabilized lens but with the Canon lenses they are buzzing the entire time.
