Long story short, I had my 7D and all of my lenses stolen. I did have most of my gear insured through State Farm and I am waiting to see what happens with my claim. Right now I estimate that I will have $2-2,500 to play with once I buy another 7D.
What would you all recommend for a good starter kit to shoot weddings on both FF and crop?
I also shoot video.

What I lost
Sigma: 10-20mm, 24-60mm (I wish this lens was still in production), 85mm 1.4 (Extremely sharp and accurate)
Canon 50mm 1.8 and 55-250mm
Yashica Yashinon 50mm 1.4

What I am considering

$2100-2500
14mm Samyang or another UWA option
24-105L
50mm 1.8 or Siglux
135L or Sigma 1.4 or Canon 1.8

or

24-105mm
70-200mm F4/IS
50mm or some sort
But I will be missing the bokeh of a fast 85+mm lens on my 5D and UWA.

Thanks

UPDATE
I picked up the 24-105L and 135L

Honestly, D700, 24-70, SB700. Add other bits as you can afford it. I'm much happier with my Nikon kit than I ever was with my Canons. Not sure what the cost is like compared with your current kit. The D700 doesn't do video though, the D800 if it's ever released will. The D7000 does - nice camera, video, crop sensor.

Any help before I make anymore purchases tomorrow would be great.

I was thinking 24-70 as that's what I mostly use on Nikon, but the Canon lens isn't consistently reliable. 24-105 F4L is ok, but on a 5D in low light you need AF assist from a speedlite. 16-35, 24-70, 70-200 is what i'd call the standard wedding photographers kit. Some people love the 50 F1.2, but it's expensive. The 50 F1.4 isn't great IMHO.

Maybe a 35/83 F1.8 ish combo? You still probably want wide though.

Sorry to hear about your equipment. With your budget it seems that you will be going over that with another 7d +L lens unless you get that used. And the fact that you are using it for video its a must have for IS in your lenses unless you plan to have it on the tripod the whole time. Probably a 7D and 28-135mm IS would be a better fit for you and within your budget.

P.S. Didn't see you still had bodies left. 5D should be good enough. but probably 24-105mm is your best bet for all around coverage but get some lenses. 50 1.4 or 35mm

Thanks
To update this thread. I just bought the 24-105L and 135L.
I now have about $4-700 to play with and thats pushing it. Im still not sure what insurance plans to pay for.
I considered the 28-135 and 15-85 but With zooms I needed a lens with a constant aperture and excellent optics.

You need a wide, fast prime...30 f1.4? or 28 f1.8?

I had the 30mm before and liked it, but Im looking for something that is also FF compatible. Plus its really a 48mm 1.4 on a crop body. I was looking at the 28mm 1.8, but I see a lot of complaints about the lens being soft until you go up to 2.8. Im also seeing a lot of mixed reviews about the Sigma 24mm.
I think I might pick up a 50mm and the samyang 14mm and try and save to buy the 24L or 35L whenever I book another wedding.

I probably would have voted for the Sigma 70-200 2.8 - have heard a lot of good things about it, fopr about half the price of Canon's. If I had to do it over again, I probably would have gotten that one instead of the 70-200 f/4L.

Yea, I was thinking the same thing. I have heard that the New Sigma 70-200 is better than the Mark I and 95% as good as the Mark II. If I was to get the Canon 70-200mm f4, it would definitely be the IS version.

Is it a bad idea to buy the Nifty Fifty and use the money saved to go towards a wide prime?
Im thinking 24L>35L since I use both crop and FF

I do not think the 50 1.8 does that well at focusing in low light. The 24L and 35L are both nice though.
