So...

I got that Neewer timer remote in today. It's GARBAGE......

Here's the Amazon review I wrote on it. It's not been published yet, I guess they have to review it for bad words. I wanted to leave bad words but I censored myself.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

This review is from: Digital Timer Remote (EZA-C3) for Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II & 1Ds Mark III (Electronics)

I just got this item in the mail today. It took forever to arrive but I'll blame the xmas season for the slow shipping. I also want to take a jab at the terrible tracking system of the USPS. It's the worst tracking system and you simply can not use it to track anything. Period.

As to the item.

Cheap, cheap, cheap. What a piece of cr*p..

I'm ashamed that I spent $4,000 on a 5D mkII, lenses, and other items then spent $24 on this garbage.

It's flimsy. If you stare at it it weeps..
It was not packed properly for shipping. It came in a flimsy cardboard box with thin bubble wrap inside. If a bug walked on the bubble wrap it would pop.
The box is of the type you would see hanging on pegboard displays in a drive in grocery store like you see cell phone accessories displayed in a rip-off shack convenience store.

The flimsy little box was shoved into a plastic mailing envelope with no padding at all. It should have been sent in a proper card board box.
When I opened the plastic envelope the device's box was crushed.

The device itself did not appear to be physically damaged, at least upon first glance.

I opened the battery compartment and I could see the springs for the battery were all wonky. This was not due to shipping damage, the battery door would have been totally destroyed first.
So the battery springs are just poorly designed, made and assembled. It was tricky to get the batteries to stay in place because of the messed up springs. The battery tray itself is just poorly designed.

Once I got the batteries installed I turned it over to explore it. There is a little navigation joystick rocker thingie. It reminds me of the controls on the very old, very, very first iPod.
Well, it doesn't work. The down arrow just doesn't work. It takes like five minutes of fiddling with it to be able to get it to recognize the down arrow. The other arrows more or less work but are somewhat unresponsive as well and take a fair amount of fiddling to use them. There is a button in the center that says "SET".. This button is rotated off a few degrees in relation to the device. When you look at it it immediately strikes you that the set button is crooked.

The inability to use the navigation wheel thing or whatever you call it, totally blows the whole deal.
This thing is cr*p.. It is not worth my time or effort to send it back for a refund. I'm just throwing it in the trash and spending the money like I should have done in the first place on a real Canon brand TC-80N3 timer. Sure, the Canon timer is $130 but I can be assured that it's not a POS like this thing is. I'm ashamed of myself for buying this garbage to put with my $4,000 camera.. I should have my a** kicked for being so cheap and stupid. And the people that make and sell this garbage should be equally ashamed.

As for actually trying to use it, I haven't even plugged it into my camera and will not be doing so. I can't operate the controls on it so there's no point in wasting my time.

I'm contacting the seller to express my displeasure but I don't expect a refund. I'm not going to spend the money or take half a day to drive around to send this garbage back. It's just going into the trash can where it belongs and I'll take the loss as a lesson.

I am sad that I have to give this item ONE STAR, it won't allow me to give it ZERO STARS. It doesn't even deserve the one star it is forcing me to select.
I can find absolutely nothing good to say about this thing. Period..

I, am extremely unhappy with this device. JUNK.......

edit: I just went to B&H and ordered a brand new GENUINE CANON TC-80N3 remote timer. Screw the cheap crap. I went with the same guys I got my camera from because I know I can trust them to deliver the real deal to me and on time.
I could have opted for free shipping but I went ahead and sprung for expedited shipping so I have it in time for xmas with the family. I also want to have it in time for my tattoo sessions which I'll be starting next week..

It cost me a whole lot more, $140 but I know it will be quality stuff and not the garbage I threw $20+ away on with that POS Neewer thing...

This thing is HUGE!!! OMG!!!

Right away I fell in love with this thing when I could manually operate the zoom and focus by hand and not pushing little buttons! And my S3, you can not manually focus it. It's AF only and I hate that.

I've got a LOT of learning to do! This thing is sweeeeeeeeet!!!

The hugeness was one of two reasons I opted to go with the 60D this autumn.

Just bought a $3000 laser rangefinder a week ago, and I was tempted to get that camera instead. Hard choices sometimes. I'd say the toughest choice this year for a purchase, was not between the two cameras, but between the laser and the 5D Mk II camera.

Enjoy your holiday season with that nice tool
