Depends. Are the images viewable, and zoomable, in the camera? Can you view them OK directly from the card reader? Or is it just the downloaded images you get the error message from? Does this happen with images from all your cards, or just one or two? Essentially, we need lots more details about when and how this is happening.

Is the card reader built into your computer? I had that problem and used a mobile card reader and haven't had a problem since.

The reader is not part of the computer. Yes they are viewable from the camera. It is just one or two pics from each card.

if you can view all of the images correctly in the camera, then the problem lies either in your card reader or the software you're using.

I will buy me another reader. Could I use the camera to download to see if it still does it ? I have always been told to not download from the camera.

Yes, you can. The only reason to not download from the camera is that it's slower than a good dedicated card reader.

Who told you this, salesperson selling readers? You can download from the camera...read the manual.

I've just worked through some data corruption issues. In my case it was a bad motherboard, a known bug that I never found out about. However it could be (in approx this order) a bad memory card, bad RAM, a bad processor, bad cable, bad card reader, a bad hard drive, a camera problem, or cosmic rays.

You can test many of these, suggest you do them in this order.

Test your RAM - windows has a feature built in (google "windows ram test") or use memtest x86+ (external link) - it's free, bootable from a CD. Run it overnight at least.
Test your card using this (external link) or this (external link).
Intel processor test: https://downloadcenter.intel.com …r-Diagnostic-Tool-64-bit- (external link)
Prime 95 stability test: http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=205 (external link)
Test your hard drive using the second link in the "test your card" link above (ie this (external link))
Test any drive or card using teracopy with "verify" turned on.

Report back when you've done all that - should take you a day to get initial data.

Some good pointers from Tim ^^^ - I once had a bad USB cable that caused problems - It didn't help that when I bought a new card reader I used the existing cable that was already plugged into the PC and still had problems. So when you get the new reader make sure you also swap the cable!
