After many comments from family & friends, I have finally given up and decided I need to join Facebook. I also see that I need one for business and needs to be kept separate. I am fairly stupid when it comes to Facebook. :oops: Is the "best" way to create the account for personal and then add a page for the business? I've looked around and maybe my old brain can't handle any more info, but I'm lost as to what I need to actually do. I have created an account and a page for the photography side, but I'm not sure if that is the right way to go or not. How do I send the business page to people and will they still see the personal part?

I'm kinda feeling lost and need a path to follow. Thanks.

Yep, you're on the right track. The goal of the business page is to get "likes"...however stupid that sounds. The more likes, the more shares and the more shares...the more people see your work. To start with, you should invite some of your Facebook friends to "like" your page.

On the right side of the business page you should see a link that says "Invite Friends" - click this and a window will pop up that says "Suggest whateveryourpageis to Friends" - Under that is a menu that by default is set to "recent interactions" - change this to "search all friends" - You will then have a list of all your Facebook friends....if you have just a few it won't be much trouble to go through and click the little checkbox next to each of them.

If you have a lot of Facebook friends though, that's a real pain but there is a quick way to check all of the boxes automatically.

If you are using Firefox, go to the menu that says tools and select Web Developer - then select and open Scratchpad. Copy and paste this into Scratchpad:

javascript:elms=document.getElementsByName("checkableitems[]");for (i=0;i<elms.length;i++){if (elms[I].type="checkbox" )elms[I].click()};

Then right click and press "run"

Voila, all those checkboxes have been checked for you and you don't have to waste an hour of your time.

Now, make your page interesting. Spruce it up with info on the info page and some photos. Add your website link. Interact with anyone who has liked the page.

Share your page on your personal facebook wall and on twitter and in your signature on sites like this. From your business page, on the right side click on "Use Facebook as whateveryourpageis" - then you can go around and participate on other Facebook pages and groups as your business which will direct even more people to your new page.

The key to having a successful FB page is to keep adding new content and interacting with people on the page. Encourage interactions by asking questions, having contests, and of course posting nice photos.

I just went through this too. I skipped the personal page and only did one for the business. Have no desire for friends from 20 years ago to find me and remind me of the stupid things I did growing up - I'm sure I have scars and memories of most.
