I always do that, the image must be posted first in your photo web site. In my case thru smugmug..so from Camera to ipad, can even do simple editing , I transfer raw, then smugphoto to post on smugmug...then get link on smugmug, to potn.

Apple has prevented html file upload from iOS devices. Attachments can not be sent to POTN with iPad. You must use embedding like Tony explained.
