Just wondering if anyone had any experience using this on some think like a 550D (T2i) or similar. Did some research, looks like amazing glass so wanted to hear some feedback on it used on crop sensor like a t2i

What do you want to know?
It's an EF mount lens and fits any EOS body.
It makes no difference if it's on a 1 Series, XXD Series, XD Series, XXXD Series, XXXXD Series or EOS film camera.

What Phil says + you really need only to determine if the 1.6x crop factor on that focal length will work for you.

I am fully aware that it is an EF mount and will fit fine. I am also looking for something to compliment the 24-70L that I have, so the focal length is fine as well. The reason I asked is because I have heard of some lenses not being the best candidates for crop bodies. Don't recall where but this is something I have read/seen/heard of the 17-40.

Two things...
1 - L Series lenses are no good on crop bodies
2 - Everything you read on the internet may not necessarily be true

:lol::lol:
There are only opinions on what is better or worse for a crop. It all depends on your needs. I have read the debate for the 17-40 vs 17-55 and I hear all kinds of statements. The point is, no matter what people think in theory, it still comes down to your own usage. Yup, the 17-55 is supposedly more practical due to focal length and and extra stop. Guess what I shoot on my crop bodies. 17-40. $300 cheaper, and I have a 50mm. The 70-200 will do fine on your camera. Like many here say, the guy using it has more to do with it then the equipment. Every lens and camera body will have small details you will need to understand. Learn your combo and shoot it to the best of your ability. The 70-200 is on my list for the future.

It'll work fine, But it would benefit better from a but better camera behind it ( Auto focus mostly [7d...] and Weight, the MK II will be crazy front-heavy on the T3

Our T1i felt a little small without a grip when we attached the Mk1 but seriously, if this focal length fits your shooting style and the price fits your wallet, then go for it. It is a great lens!!!

I am using 550D and planning to upgrade to 7D. Is there any problem with 70-200 2.8 IS with it?

Works great on my 7D. Might want to add a battery grip to balance the weight a little.

Completely true on that account. The 17-40L is less sharp, a full stop slower, has no OS, and costs more than the Sigma 17-55.
