I agree. Actually, I commented on the first shot in the Silverefex thread. Second one is awesome as well. Very powerful pair...

Thank you very much :) As much as I'd probably love a 17-55 or Sigma 17-50, I find the 18-55 to be quite capable in most situations...

I also say this until I ever get my hands on a 17-55 and my whole outlook changes lol

The only reason the 18-55mm lenses aren't considered very good is because most of the people who use 'em don't really know how to make compelling shots. In the hands of someone who actually knows how to compose and use lighting and so on, they're prettymuch all pretty capable lenses (even the optically worst rated ones, for that matter, sharpness matters very little in the end).
Personally, I don't really like zooms for a variety of reasons(reasons I've yammered on an on about for far too long so I'll refrain from elaborating this time), but that's personal perference more than anything else.

A good photographer can take extraordinary photos anywhere, with any camera and any lens while a mediocre one will take mediocre ones everywhere, with every camera and every lens.
Never limit yourself with what others think you should do. Shoot what you find interesting, exactly the way you want to.
