Well Alan, I was at school when I started this as a hobby and at the time Panchromatic films and PLATES were only just becoming available - meaning you could not develop the films in a red light any more. (That only happens in WW2 spy films)
Did you ever use PanF? I actually used a plate camera for some of my early work but never kept the plates - unfortunately. I still have some early 35mm b/w negatives that I scan when I need them. But I had so many a lot of them were disposed of. Progress!
