Thanks so much C Scott. I don't know if this would help or maybe hurt (ha) but I can tell you what caused me to push the shutter was the gesture she was making. I always try to look for something real in my work. Something that is not or doesn't look posed or self conscious. Real moments.

Thank you for sharing that. That was what I noticed first. But then I noticed the nice space between her and her reflection where the white piano quietly waits. Then the contrast between her in black and the rest of the frame in white. The dark hair also helps. It all works so well together.

Thanks again. A great photographer once told me that either everything in the frame is helping the visual statement and if it is not helping it then it is hurting it. In my opinion backgrounds should always be complimenting, working with and enhancing the subject.
