The endemic Native Hens frequent farms here and a pair called it home in a small paddock against our house. Over a couple of years they became so used to our presence they wouldn't flinch when we went outside. It got such I could walk slowly into the paddock and they'd look up but go on eating. Then 4 little fluffy chickens arrived and they took on the parents acceptance of me such that I can sit on ground within about 25 feet, 8 metres or so and they just go about life. This is 3 of them. They wander to other parts of farm but if they hear my voice they stop running away when approached. Quite fascinating. Magnificent close-up. Beautiful duck. Very nice low shot of a regal beauty.

avondale87 thanks for whoever started this More info | Dec 28, 2020 04:55 | #21763 Eidelweiss wrote in post #19172359 Wow! Talk about classical conditioning. They are an interesting bird, to say the least. Are they as big as a pheasant? They are not huge birds, 17"-20" - 43-51 cm. I gather that's smaller than a pheasant Image hosted by forum (1080030) © avondale87 [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Please log in to see the good quality stuff.
