A Coot.

I love the colour of the water, complimented by the red eye.

Hi Jimmy...

Thanks for the kind comments. Whereabouts are you located. It looks like we share some of the same kinds of wildlife. I've enjoyed your Quail and Roadrunner photographs you posted recently.

The colors of this reptile are truly beautiful, Tom. You surely captured it nicely!

Great capture, Jimmy! Those tusks could do some major damage if he had mind to.

Tom

I'm based in Minnesota-Twin Cities area, but recently visited the folks in Tucson where they live in the East foothills.
Their wildlife was stressed by the drought/heat wave and made regular visits to the birdbaths and feeders: native birds, javalina, and bobcats.
Even had a mountain lion once, but I missed that one!
Cheers

Thanks, Mike!
We had a group of 11 camping in the front yard...fairly tame-looking, unless they felt their piglets threatened.
Always good to have a long lens, and a clear exit strategy!

That explains it, and yes the current heat wave is up there with the record breakers. It's been 115-degrees on average for the past several days and looks like it will continue for several more. If you're back home in the Twin Cities, you escaped just in time. :-D
