A Drake Mallard

Beautiful mallard capture, fotoi! The colors are gorgeous, and the sharpness is spot on.

Great capture, Charlie!

Thank you, LD. The sun had just disappeared behind a rocky outcrop and was close to setting anyway, so the lighting was consequently dull and flat and the ISO high. All things considered I was therefore pretty happy with the outcome. We spent several hours tracking Julius as he set up a second attempt at a buffalo calf kill, the capture looking straight down the barrel of my lens being taken whilst he made an indirect loop downwind to set himself up. I'll create a thread on the story when I get a moment to do so.

The captures below are from several hours earlier whilst setting up what turned out to be a failed attempt at lunch. The buffalo calf was about ten metres in front of me amongst the undergrowth. Adult buffalo came to the rescue, and whilst we couldn't see the fight we certainly heard it.

And the calf, looking directly at the Leopard that had just attacked it now back on the top of its rocky outcrop behind me.
