Hoosier, did you get that with your 400 L on the 7D? I can't seem to get close enough for my 60D/55-250 EF-S (400 effective) and I'm considering a 100-400 L (640 on a 1.6 crop). We find a lot of Osprey here in S Florida, but they're easily spooked.

Yes it was taken with my 7D w/400mm F5.6 lens. Photo was shot from a kayak, which I have found allows me to get much closer to the wildlife.

Right on, I just realized you had posted some other greats in the 'Kayak' thread weeks back. As a fellow yakker I enjoy your work. Difference is it's still warm enough here to get on the water :)

I was walking around the yard shooting everything I could last weekend to learn more about the new gear and got lucky. The trees were alive with squirrels, blue jays, red bellied woodpeckers and warblers. I got a few of this guy but only one turned out OK. I learned that I need to sacrifice ISO for shutter speed to capture these twitchy rascals @ 250mm f8.0 (rated better IQ than @ f5.6). Just happened to freeze him with a 1/80 shutter. Still so much to learn coming from a PowerShot...

I still kayak in the cooler months, if the lakes arent frozen of course. I wear my scuba diving dry suit over some insulated clothes just in case I accidentally go swimming.

Cool image, BGgraphy! If you lighten a little bit the left eye it will be even better, in my opinion, but in its original state is also very nice....

azquadrider - A Wow macro shot!!! Looks incredible...
