Yes it was, It was real foggy one night and two were hit about 1 km from my home. Im interested to know how the deer makes you feel about the image. your opinion would be appreciated.

Death is part of the food chain. One life ends, another carries on.
It's like Clint Eastwood said in "The Outlaw Josie Wales," after shooting and killing an adversary and mounting his horse, he was asked:
"Ain't ya gonna bury him, Josie?"
Wales, "What for? Buzzards gotta eat, same as worms."

It's a powerful photo that coveys the message~Life is sometimes cruel and others will take advantage of your misfortune.

The cycle of life is to be celebrated... nature in all it's beautiful (and not so pretty) moments.

Great to see the fox getting a meal that it hasn't had to work too hard for... *grin*

Are there kits around over there yet Jeff? Must be getting close to that time of year again...

Pictures of dead animals are always unpleasant for me. When someone posts a predation shot, I feel sorry for the victim, even if it's a worm or a fly. Yes, everyone has to eat, part of nature, all that. However, your shot is very impressive and well done, so that I admire it at the same time. These two emotional reactions exist side by side.

Thank you, I know some will feel the same. I know I do. I tried to keep the gore non existent and make it more pro life on behalf of the Fox.

I think you did a wonderful job of making it more pro-life Jeff! Always love the Fox photos!!!

Jeff your fox images are great, as always. Just wondering how you manage to get so close to them? Any time I catch a glimpse of a fox they bolt away in an instant. Certainly there's no chance of them sitting there looking at me. Are they just that accustomed to seeing you around?

Thanks, Year's of being around them and the area they live in. Sometimes you get lucky like I did with the Deer fox image, Right place, right time, right light. So the answer is 100's maybe 1000's of hours in the bush in my area. I know more animals then people around here and I've lived here all my life.

I reckon it would be hard to tell if she's pregnant under that luscious winter coat... I suppose she'll disappear for a couple of weeks once she has her kits, and the male will be doing extra hunting to be able to bring food back for her while she suckles the little ones...

You are so lucky to have a family of foxes that come out during the day... ours tend to stick to being nocturnal here...
