Went for a little walk this aft to a place where I learned to be the human I am now.. self centred, out spoken, terrible with a camera... :p

I took many snaps of the tree's leaves, lakes and ponds.. a few critters too. This fella was quite large and over 4 -5 feet long.. He swam around catching what ever Otters catch, then sat on this patch of ground which is the pond bottom I guess. The pond is low of water with the drought this summer. To bad I couldn't get the fall colours in the back ground

Beautiful colours, love that pose.
Never realised they were such big animals. Always assumed much smaller (couple feet max)

It was such a good opportunity to video an Otter at just a few feet.. Unfortunately I was holding a 7DII of which I dont find very good in the video department for the great outdoors. I needed a ND filter and a polarizer.. all I had was the polarizer.

If you put your fingers together like making a ball shape or like a spider and his reflection his head was a bit bigger than that

I tried video and was completely unable to see what was on the screen... Right then and there I knew I needed a mirrorless so I could look right through the viewfinder.
kicking myself me thinks. BUT I haven't checked my lotto tickets so cross your fingers.

This is a primo shot Jeff. When I showed it to my wife, without any hesitation, she said it reminded her of me. Hmmm, I wonder if that was supposed to be a compliment?

Sounds like you were rather compromised.
Rather intriguing animal.

I haven't shown it to my wife. She maynot be too kind either. :p

But you did! In the water reflection.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Big and they live 3 times longer than us. You know why. They don't use up their heartbeats exercising. :-)

Yes, I’ve read they can weigh up to 417 kg and can live well over 100 years (150 to over 200 years).
