Hi,
I read that each camera has a maximum capacity that it will accept; e.g. if the max for a 20D is 4GB, even if you use a 8Gb card, it will only write max 4Gb. As I need to buy some more cards, I want to take this into account. I am using now a 20D, 1D and 1DIII.
thanks,
Herman

There is a very good list here (external link).

As you can see sometimes you can use larger cards if they are formatted by another camera first. For example, my 300D and 350D can use my 32GB card just fine if I format the card first in my 400D. They otherwise will only format to 8GB.

It would appear that your 20D can use any CF card if you format it first in your 1DIII otherwise 8GB max. Your 1D can only use a 2GB card FAT16 formatted unless you specially preformat a 4GB card with 64K clusters and FAT16 using a cardreader.
