Nothing wrong with my 50D, I just want a 1 series body. I used my dads 1D2 extensively last week while I was at home with my family for the holiday. Mine is in mint condition, with 2 extra batteries, battery grip, boxes, paperwork, etc etc. I'd love to get a 1D2 since they're still really good cameras and quite capable, as is my 50D.

Does anyone else suffer from the dreaded G.A.S.? I know we all personally justify our purchases and gear moves, laterally or otherwise, but is this just senseless "wanting"? The auto-focus system alone on the 1D series makes me drool.

POTN is just one great big enabler! Anyone who doesn't have G.A.S. usually comes down with it pretty quick thanks to this freakin' place!! LOL

Put your credit card in a bowl of water and stick it in the freezer?

Seriously though, if you need to focus on fast moving subjects and you WANT to capture the decisive moment, then you have your answer. Otherwise, if you are intent on spending the dough, ask yourself what is the next best thing you can purchase to improve all other aspects of your photography.

Have a look on craigslist. I've seen very good condition 1D Mark II bodies on there for under $900.00. Here is an example of one for sale with a Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens, 3 batteries and duel charge for $850.00 including original boxes. http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/pho/2723099602.html (external link)

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

You can pretty much talk yourself into or out of anything you want. At least that happens to me, lol. And once the bug bites, you must have whatever it is you have set your mind to!!!!!

I agree, we can all easily convince ourselves what we think we need.

I'm holding out until the first of the year because I'm hoping my dad will gift me his 1D2. A guy can dream, can't he?
