The lcd screen on my G2 will not go on when I power the camera. I can still take pictures through the viewfinder and the screen displays the photos stored on the flash memory, so I know it works . Any thoughts or suggestions?

was the lcd set to be disable? there should be a setting to shut it off to preserve battery life and avaid using it in bright conditions where you would just be using the viewfinder. check the manual. you may have inadvertently changed the setting. good luck.

He's right... press the Display button on the back of the camera once or twice and see if that doesn't fix it. It's always a little heart-stopping to inadvertently hit that button an see a black screen. :)

Thanks, guys. I am at the office now and will try to fix it tonight. I will let you both know what happens. Thanks again for your prompt responses and suggestions.

Bolantej and Don - Thanks so much. I just got home, hit the display button once and it magically appeared. That was easy. Now I feel like a complete idiot. I certainly didn't think I was that technologically challenged. Thanks again.

Good news... and don't worry about it. It's not like you realized you hit the button in the first place. I still remember the first time my screen came up blank -- the first fear is always the worst: It's broken.

And because it only happens every six months or so, you'll forget the next time it happens as well and have the same few seconds of fear. But then you'll remember.

Cheers,

Don
