I'm looking at some Lenovo laptops, for Lightroom, Photoshop work.
I intend to get 8G ram, a good video card, and (intel i5 or i7 system).
Don't need super fast on a laptop, but want a good system. Here is a possibility that looks good to me. I'm assuming 4G of ram can be added to it. Any experienced advice will be appreciated.
Thanks

What model lenovo is it?

They make several different series, each with the same processor, ram and HDD specs, so the same performance, but very different prices based on build quality, size, battery life and extra features.

Dell, HP etc do pretty much the same thing.

I'm using the Lenovo X220 - i7 2620M, 8GB RAM, and the Intel HD3000 integrated video (Win 7 64-bit)

It runs just great with Photoshop and Lightroom. I purchased it with the minimum RAM and then picked up 2 x 4GB sticks from Newegg for a good savings.

That looks like a nice graphics card, but you really shouldn't need it for just Photoshop and Lightroom - obviously it will be a help if you use some other graphics/video programs.

Only other thing I can suggest is to make sure you have external storage, since 500GB will fill up fast. I've been using the USB3.0 WD MyPassport SE drives (with less than stellar success rate, but good if you back up frequently).

Another Lenovo x220 user here, the laptop absolutely flies through Photoshop and lightroom. I upgraded the ram to 16GB (2x8gb) and a 256gb SSD.

I'm considering the W420, or W520, with a 15 inch screen. Reviews sound ok, except they claim the AC converter is almost as big as a laptop (I haven't seen one). The X220 sounds great, but I need a larger screen.
Lenovo has so many series, -W, X etc, it's difficult to know which I want for photo work.
I probably would have bought a DEL XPS 15Z, if so many people weren't complaining so much about the fans being so loud, which is a deal stopper for me.

Thanks
