I found some 400 ASA Kodak colour film in Kmart and bought a few rolls and started shooting. Yesterday - after a three week wait - I got the first roll back, developed ad printed on 10x15cm format glossy paper. The old camera still seems to work well and exposure was reasonable although I think for the next try I'll have generally have EV+1. When I compare the quality with some similar shots taken with my DSLR's over the years the quality is rather poor. I am glad to live in the digital age although it used to be fun in the darkroom. May be if I still had the developg and printing gear I used the result would have been slightly better. I think DSLR have definitely surpassed the analog stuff.... ![]() My name is Henk. and I believe "It is all in the eye of the beholder....."

I scanned some of the shots into a 600dpi TIFF file and processed it marginally ( pulled the shadows a bit and sharpened some plus some noise reduction). Now ,more often than not, I am shooting with film. Digi sort of leaves me empty, but I do always carry my trusty G16 ( great little camera ). I'm not knocking digi, I'm glad we have it, but imagine a John Wayne western shot in 4K ??

You've given me an idea to throw on the telephoto lens and finish off the roll of film down at the local bird hang out.

Dec 19, 2016 02:29 | #505 When I find a film camera I always put a film in it and go out testing it. But since I have only 36 exposures I find it double hard to find suitable subjects that deserve the shutter click, plus the limitations from the camera they all make me forget about film and shoot digital. Some simple photos

I have to agree. It takes time to find click worthy on a 36 roll ,even a 24. Happily though, that is translating to my digi side. Most times after a couple of hours shooting digi , I'll only have 15 or 20 shots. I remember the days shooting race car events and manual focusing was the order of the day . We worked hard ,but we didn't know any better

The films days I was very deliberate in pressing the shutter. Suffice many secondary level shots were missed that would be nice to have. Those times were quite interesting and the rewards from a nicely exposed transparency on a light table was Image hosted by forum (830107) © ra40 [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW.
