It's the 50mm f2, but there's a local place that keeps posting up a 50mm 1.4 that I'd like to get my hands on.
I'd also like to pick up an X700 eventually because it has a few more features, but I shot it yesterday in fact. It has the most satisfying feeling, and makes such cool noises.

I shot this with it over the summer. It was a very foggy sunrise at one of my favorite places in the world (in northern Mi).

I say go for it. I think you'll have fun with that extra stop of aperture. The one I would really like to have is the second gen MC 58 1.2. :)

Love the pic. Really like the grain.

Someday, perhaps. There are always other things more pressing though, ha.

Thank you.

got my develop materials today and rolled a few rolls of Kodak Vision 3 5205 50D

QUOTED IMAGE

those peterson reels are the cats meow for winding film. you dont even need to ratchet them back and forth if you have a really short roll (i used them with some hand rolled 6-10 frame rolls when i worked for the newspaper if i needed some quick down and dirty head shots. just start the film and pull it in around the reel...

The camera is fixed focus with one aperture and one shutter speed (likely 1/50, f8 or 11)
Unfortunately the strips had to be taped level with the camera's opening, so the film stands flat.
I managed to get 5 widely spaced wavy unfocused photos as I thought the film numbers were for 4,5X6 frames (16shots)
I had the film developed and then I photographed the negatives and processed in LR.

i remember these! they gave them away with a magazine subscription for several different magazines. Time, Newsweek, Sports Illustrated too i think...

friend in school got one from someplace and wanted me to show her how to use it. i dont think she ever shot with it or at least not more than once...

Just thinking about click worthy. Imagine being the fella who shot the last roll of kodachrome .

i watched the video of that. lots of planning and digital test shots...

then the subject matter SUCKED...

absolutely NO IMAGINATION. i think my daughter had more artistic intent when she was about 5 or 6 then what that guy did...

Nice shot Dane.

Also consider the X-570. I just picked one up on ebay about a week back and sent it off for a repair/CLA. Should be back in my hands by tomorrow.

Thank you.
Out of curiosity, where'd you send it to? I honestly don't know much about the Minolta X series (or any of them, really), but I know the people that own/have owned them have nothing but good things to say.

Man, too bad they didn't have these in the 70s when I was a kid. (first saw these like most people in the 80s as the Time promotional camera) Would have been all over that! Especially since my favorite color back then was green.

Seems to have great reviews in the online photo communities. My local camera repair center wanted $75-$100 just to repair it alone (shutter seems to fire at the same speed no matter the setting on the dial).

Good question. I've outgrown the whole "favorite color" thing, and don't really worry about that much anymore. There are colors that I might prefer on certain items (e.g.: just bought a car in "ruby red metallic" because I was tired of the standard white, black, silver, dark blue etc. thing) but in general it just doesn't matter that much any more.

Interestingly enough, even though I don't have a favorite color, there are two colors that I really try to stay away from: poopy brown, and ORANGE :p
