A Coleps Picnic Family Video

A group of Coleps find a tasty bit of leftovers from Thanksgiving and try and have a picnic, but as with Coleps everywhere, when food is involved, it turns into a food fight.

When you watch these guys, remember, they are single celled animals, have no brains, eyes, ears, noses or nerves. They don't even have heads. Think of a mobile mouth and you get the picture.

They don't seem to have much trouble for the lack of that.

Toby, I saw a couple of these guys attack an injured bristle worm once. Something had torn open it's side, possibly me, when I transferred it from the tank to the slide. Easy to do since you can't see them. The Coleps found the break in the skin and started eating, one went North and one went South. I do not know how they can communicate, but they do, over long distances. Within a minute or two, every Coleps on the slide was in on the feast and within 15 minutes, there was nothing left but the skin.

These make good movie subjects as they tend to show some 3 dimensionality, and they move a lot.

Thanks for looking Bas. Coleps are always worth watching when I find some on a slide. Most times though, they are very hard to keep under the lens, scooting all over very fast. Impossible to follow.
