I just received my 40D today. All I can say is WOW! I love the way this camera fits in my big hands, much better than my XSI. Now I get to "play" and learn the controls. You know what I will be doing in my free time! Right now I only have the 18-55 IS, 55-250 IS and the 50 1.8 II in my bag. Hope to upgrade lens in the future when finances allow.

These are the bodies that fit my sweet spot for AF and resolution.

I have had 3 at around 100k with no real problems--;)

Played with it all day yesterday, learning the layout. I really like the wheel, multicontroller and top LCD panel. Still can not get over how it just "fits" my hands. After handling it for awhile, my XSI feels like a toy when I pick it up (Even though the XSI takes some great pics!). 40D only has 9700 shutter clicks according to EOSInfo so expect to get lots of use out of it!!

I have been using a 40D for 3 years now. I do not see the need to upgrade it. Shoots very well at 1600 ISO.

I actually just made the transition from T1i/T2i to the 40D and love it as well. Definitely noisier and the LCD isn't as nice, but everything else is a million times better! I feel like a sniper with the AF and the controls/grip and amazing!

Only downside is the crappy shutter button :(

I went from a Rebel XT to the 40D last year. What a difference. Fits way better in my hand. If you have big hands, I consider getting a grip for it as well. The fit is even better with the grip!!

Enjoy your new toy.

Enjoy! I fully sympathise with the big hands problem... Got a 50D about a week ago and it handles like a dream compared to my 450D!
