Earlier today I went out to do some shooting & the first two shots came up on my LCD completely white. No detail whatsoever. The camera wasn't aimed up at the sun or anything like that. Anyone else have this happen to them? The 3rd and all following shots were fine, but now I'm concerned about this getting worse. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Could have been a lot of things. I would be suspicious of that particular memory card to start with, so try a new or different card and see if it happens again.

The only time I had anything like that happen was when I had caught the dial while I was walking with it on the sling strap and it turned the exposure comp to full and ISO to max. Once I'd nearly swallowed my head with worry and changed the settings it was fine. Did you have the top dial fully locked on and everything set right.

Thanks, I'll try a different card.

I suppose it could have been the top dial, I was so stunned by the white screen that I just turned the dial to P right away & the next shot was ok.

Thanks for the answers.

You said you turned it to 'P' - what was it on before you turned it? Were you shooting in Tv or Av last time you shot? It's possible that you had one of those modes set for very low light, which would totally overexpose the image in daylight, making for a white screen like you experienced.

You probably had it in a setting you're not usually using, and it probably had a shutter speed that was so slow that it over exposed the image.

I had a problem with my 7D where when I was out using it, the EV would gradually increase. Turned that I had not set the Lock switch for the Control Dial, and I must have been nudging it while walking around. The problem does not occur on other bodies because the Lock switch is part of the power switch.

Cheers, Oggy :)

Looks like you hit it. I think somehow I managed to WAY over expose and wound up with a white out...LOL

Live & learn.

Thanks everyone.
