I just want to let you all know that this lens is the best zoom that I have over owned, in term of sharpness.

Before you read on, please keep in your mind that I was using it at only f2.8. I have not tried it at any other apertures

Fist, let me compare it the the other zoom lens (only in term of sharpness and nothing else).

a.) It is much, much, much sharper than 24-105 at f4.

b.) It is much, much sharper than my 16-35 ii at f2.8. I have to shot the 16-35 ii at f4 to get the same results.

c.) It is noticeably sharper than my 70-200 f4 IS.

Second, let me put it again the primes that I own. I have two primes, the 50 f1.4 and 35 f1.4L I can not tell the difference between any of these lenses. At f2.8 they are all about the same.

Third, I got it for only $1970 with tax and shipping from amazon.

Remember guys this is my opinions only and that is all that it matters to me. It is the best $1970 that I have ever spend.

Then we will see the follow up on E-Bay in the next few months as well. Most will be able to get 100-200 dollars more than they paid per copy.

Hey wrxrocks,
thanks for your feedback and congrats on getting one.
I really want to get that too. so close to pulling the trigger on Amazon as well.
It's cheaper to get it from the US than it is to get it here locally in Japan (damn exhange rates).

Post some of your photos when you get the chance!

So glad I went on impulse and grabbed this thing @ $1961..can't wait to play with the new toy this weekend.

I was a little worried about size, but it's actually not THAT big.

at f2.8 it's much sharper than a V1 70-200 2.8L, as the aperture increases, the difference (if there is any) is more difficult to detect. at 2.8 it's easy to see. they really cleaned it up when wide open.

I am thinking about getting 85 1.2 later on in a near future. But now I have to enjoy this one first. I think it is time to get a full frame body now.

When did Amazon sell it for $1970? I see $2074 now
Also Amazon doesn't charge tax or shipping (I live in OC too)
